  When Cleo meows in response, I hold back a laugh. I’m guessing to her luring me into naps throughout the day is what taking care of me looks like. At seven months pregnant, I’m prone to nodding off at the drop of a hat. Cleo snuggling with me frequently sends me into dreamland.

  I lose my breath when John looks up from my belly into my eyes. The way he looks at me makes me tingle all over.

  I grin and nod my head. “I do.”

  “Hard to believe it’s been a year since I found you in that shitty apartment. Look at us now.”
